Good Morning, and please excuse this blatant ask for funds, but this is an urgent and time-sensitive situation.
Our dear friend Jean Trespalacios, a promising road cyclist and bicycle messenger in Mexico City, had a severe accident on May 9, 2024 during a race at the CDMX autodrome.
Jean has pierced his abdomen from this crash and there is currently a large hole in his abdomen. His intestines are at risk of being compromised and the situation is unclear. He also has a fractured pelvis..
The issue here is that Jean does not have health insurance and works as a bicycle courier without much financial security or savings.
The private hospital in which he arrived to is denying him service unless a deposit of at least $200,000 MXN pesos ($11,916 USD / 4.2 ETH) is paid. Approximately ~$400,000 MXN ($24,832 USD) is needed for all medical attention and surgery needed atm. In the meantime he has been transferred to Balbuena public clinic where he is (hopefully stable?) and still has not received any medical care.
We are very concerned about his health since urgent action is needed. The heathcare system in Mexico is so fucked up that without the funds/money needed as deposit, he simply cannot be given help, is forced to wait, and no intervention is possible.
Please consider donating to help Trespalacios, a dear friend and talented cyclists and bicycle courier from Mexico City. Any amount helps and funds will be off-ramped ASAP and sent to his Mexican Bank Account as soon as the crowdfi timeframe is over.
Recovery time is unknown at the moment, and this specifically to get him urgent medical care needed as his life is potentially at risk if something is not done in a timely manner.

In ETH terms, ~ 4.2 ETH should get him seen, 8.4 ETH should get him covered for the bare minimum. Perhaps > 10 ETH total will give some breathing room as who knows when he can work again or what recovery might look like + additional expenses. Even a fraction of this is a serious amount of money for an average mexican, and these goals are aspirational. I want to make clear ANYTHING HELPS. thank you.
This campaign is open ended for a funding goal for 24 hours, then funds can get released. If i set a goal which is not reached, we risk losing any/all contribution.
I created another crowdfi campaign and didn't realize the protocol restrictions (I set it to open goal at 30 days and realized after my initial contribution that funds are locked in the contract until the timeframe ends). I will be refunding my personal contribution over there after the 30 days expires. This is the correct crowdfund.

I have an update from Ardi, Trespalacios partner:
Thankfully, Jean is now in a more stable condition and is conscious again. He was transferred and admitted to a another hospital and is receiving care (details forthcoming). She will be able to see him at 5pm local time (40 minutes from writing this update. I will continue give updates here.
She is feeling touched by all the outpouring of support of the cycling community, and i'm sure this fundraiser will be welcomed news, as it is largely a surprise and relief.
I was waiting for an update from Ardi for how to immediately offramp or send funds (I had personal funds ready to be sent immediately). Since Jean was finally admitted somewhere, the situation had become less critical for immediate need for deposit/payment to receive care, thankfully. Funds are still needed to perform what is needed in terms of medical attention. Will update when i know more. Ardi is exhausted and i imagine they've gotten little to no sleep.
The ETH from this fundraiser should clear to Transferwise in a *few days* (don't we love traditional banking?). If things are needed sooner, i still have personal funds ready that can be sent sooner if need be.
